The Ohio Blades-
2008 Aladdin Invitational Tournament
Posted on January 20th, 2008 No commentsWon, again, by the Mighty Pens of Pittsburgh. But it wasn’t easy this time around! Five teams, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Columbus battled it out in round-robin play resulting in the Pens and the Blades playing for the championship. The game ended in regulation with a Columbus goal scored with twenty seconds left to tie the contest at three. A five minute sudden death period followed with the Pens scoring on a break away goal to win the glory. For those who where there, it truly was an exciting way to wrap up a great weekend. Many thanks to all those involved in helping pull off this event. Obviously, a special mention is in order to the Shriners who funded the tournament. Without that financial suppport, it would not have been possible. Approximately 65 players participated this year. In addition to the five teams noted above, several kids came from St. Louis and joined teams.

Coach Mike led a Blades heavy Mid-Am team in the third annual USA Hockey Disability festival held in Chicago. Participating for Cols were Seth R, Cierra G, Michael F., Brad D, Chuck D, Sam M, and John M. The team faced some stiff competition and finished with 1 win and 3 losses. But it was an invaluable experience. It was also great to be able to support the effort to promote nationally the sport of sled hockey.January 26–28, 2007
