Summer Practice Update

This year we’ve added sum­mer prac­tice dates so play­ers don’t get as rusty dur­ing the sum­mer. Practices are at the Dublin Chiller and atten­dance and staff on hand will vary. Practices are:
May 2, 16 12:20– 1:20
June 5 12:00–1:00
June 20 11:00–12:00
July 10 12:20–1:20
July 24 12:00–1:00
Aug 7, 21 12:00–1:00

The Chiller noti­fied us that an event fol­low­ing our June 20th prac­tice had been can­celed, so our play­ers were able to stay on the ice for an addi­tional hour!

Fundraiser-A Huge Success!

The April 24th fundraiser game was a huge suc­cess. The St. Charles Cardinals didn’t score any goals, but they sure were great sports! The entire event was great fun for the play­ers and spec­ta­tors.

Fundraiser-Blades vs. St. Charles-April 24th

Plans are in the works for this great event — plan to attend and bring a friend!
Saturday, April 24th, at 5:30 at the Dispatch Ice Haus, the Ohio Blades will play the St. Charles Cardinals in a for fun event that raises funds for sled hockey schol­ar­ships, equip­ment, ice time and expenses.
Rumor has it that Blue Jackets per­son­nel will serve as celebrity coaches for this event, and Stinger will drop the puck!
Tickets are $5 in advance or at the door.
There will be a raf­fle of lots of great items, includ­ing a signed stick from a Blue Jackets player, a hand-made quilt, and more! Raffle tick­ets are $1 each or 10 for $5.00. You can buy them in advance if you want — con­tact a sled hockey player or par­ent.
We are cur­rently cre­at­ing the event pro­gram and need your sup­port — buy ads for your busi­ness or to show your sup­port of a player or team.

The Aladdin Invitational is the only event of its kind in Ohio, estab­lished by the Aladdin Shriners Hospital Association for Children for devel­op­ing junior sled hockey pro­grams through­out the region. The event offers an oppor­tu­nity for young ath­letes with phys­i­cal dis­abil­i­ties to come together for a full week­end of com­pet­i­tive hockey.

2008 Aladdin Invitational Tournament

Won, again, by the Mighty Pens of Pittsburgh. But it wasn’t easy this time around! Five teams, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Columbus bat­tled it out in round-robin play result­ing in the Pens and the Blades play­ing for the cham­pi­onship. The game ended in reg­u­la­tion with a Columbus goal scored with twenty sec­onds left to tie the con­test at three. A five minute sud­den death period fol­lowed with the Pens scor­ing on a break away goal to win the glory. For those who where there, it truly was an excit­ing way to wrap up a great week­end. Many thanks to all those involved in help­ing pull off this event. Obviously, a spe­cial men­tion is in order to the Shriners who funded the tour­na­ment. Without that finan­cial supp­port, it would not have been pos­si­ble. Approximately 65 play­ers par­tic­i­pated this year. In addi­tion to the five teams noted above, sev­eral kids came from St. Louis and joined teams.
